Loving My Life as Wife, Mother and Grandmother

And so it begins :)

Yesterday was a busy day here. My Dad came up to our house to help Mark with a few things on our fix it list. One was a leaky faucet in the bathroom. The other was to help Mark work on the new tiller that our neighbor gave us. Well, Dad got it going and so of course they had to try it out. Mark had been hoping to get some of it tilled up...and he did :) My Dad grew up on a farm...and loves working on lawn mowers and tillers...so this he didn't mind at all...
The new tiller does a much better job than the other one...so Dad was trying to go back over what Mark was tilling...They didn't seem to mind me clicking pictures of them. They got used to that last summer in the garden :)
I'm not sure why some of my pictures turn out like this...I don't think it was the glare from the sun...any ideas? I know I don't have a wonderful camera. It's by far nothing fancy...

This picture had a glare too :( But, it was nice seeing my Dad and Mark working along side each other :)
But this picture...I really liked!! Even though it was a little blurry, it was still a nice picture! I like the way the tillers were lined up next to each other...kind of neat!!
This is what's going to be going in the dirt....to start with....

As I was standing there taking pictures of Mark and Dad...I looked up and noticed this tree with pretty pinkish-red buds. It looked so pretty next to the sky. So, of course I had to take a picture :)
Even though I don't really enjoy having these little guys in the yard....I was excited to see blooms :) See how amazingly clear this picture is? It is such a pretty yellow..just like my daffodils.......I just had to throw this in...even though it doesn't have anything to do with spring or the garden. My Mom got me this skirt for my birthday. I just love it!! I have a new fondness for robin's-egg blue. And this skirt is close to that color. I know not everyone knows this about me...But last summer I decided I wanted to start wearing skirts or dresses all the time. I don't feel that it's sinful to wear pants, so don't misunderstand me :)...At first I just wanted to try it. Then once I did...I just decided it felt really comfortable and feminine. I guess it just stuck with me. I have only once, wore pants since then. It was when it was really, really cold. My Mom had bought me some really pretty black boots for Christmas and that remedied that problem. My girls kind of tease me about it some. But, I've always liked the way women used to look....so feminine and lady like. Well, now you know something new about me :)
Mark is busy in the kitchen painting my cabinets. They've needed painted badly since we've been here. I just couldn't decided what color. I decided just to stick with white. We got satin paint and now I'm wondering if we should have got a semi-gloss. I just didn't want them to look like the trim will. We've had so much to paint and it seems like the paint bothers Sam a lot. So, we've put a lot of it off. I just couldn't stand it anymore...and since Mark has been home a lot...I begged him to work on them. Next will be the bathroom. If you remember, our home was dated back 1890-1900. It's ancient :) So we are staying busy here....
I hope your weekend has been a happy one!!
Happiness walks on busy feet. ~Kitte Turmell~

I love tilling and tillers. Since we finally bought a new house and aren't renting any more, we plan to have a garden this year. We don't have a tiller any more and I don't know what I'm going to do. Make my son get out there with a pitch fork I guess.

It is so nice to see your husband and your father working side by side Jerelene, I can't believe how far ahead of us you are, we still have snow covered ground for heaven sake.
I have a friend who only wears skirts and dressess and another one who only wears pants and jeans, so as long as you are comfortable that is what counts.
Hugs to Sam....:-) Hugs

what pretty colors on your blog, so soft and Spring like. Isn't it nice to get the garden going! We have ours in for about 3 weeks now and had to replant only the zucchini from frost bite. I am looking forward to a small but fun harvest! I love the book bargain too!

Beautiful blog! Everyone has such beautiful blog dresses for Spring!
I used one of Wanda's (Moments Of Mine) clover pictures for my background for March, I love it so much that I'm going to hate to change it!

I love all your pictures, and that dandelion is so pretty! But my favorites are the tree and the one that you liked best too! That was so sweet, Jerelene!

My sister-in-law wears only skirts and dresses in the Summer, she says it's comfortable and much cooler. I practically live in jeans, but I'm tempted to try the skirts too. And you know how much I love that color blue! It's a very pretty skirt!

I'm glad your weather is warm enough to start on your garden. Enjoy!
We had a beautiful weekend but today it's colder and raining again. But I won't complain, I'd rather rain than snow!

Thanks again for your emails, Jerelene, I really do appreciate it!
And I'm getting so many good ideas from you!
Love to you and your family,
Eileen

Hi Jerelene...isn't it nice to be thinking gardens and it's really nice to have two men doing the tilling. I managed to plant green onions yesterday, just in time for the rain. I don't know if we will be growing much more than things for salads.
I love the spring look on your blog, especially the Lady Bug!

Oh how I wish I had the garden space you have. One day, if I can ever afford to put in a concrete retaining wall, I will have the space but for now, and the last 25 years, I have to just compromise with a small garden.

I love that you wear skirts and dresses and one day I will be able to wear them too.
Hugs to you
Terrie

Oh Jerelene, I love seeing your dad and husband working side by side, it's very special. I enjoy seeing my son and husband working together, it just gives you a really good feeling.
And I so agree with you on the skirts, I have many and like to wear them but they make me look short and stumpy!! Probably because I am short and stumpy LOL!!! Glad your getting your kitchen painted. Our house is only 63 years old but it too requires lots of upkeep and work. We are currently redoing the frontroom. Hopefully we'll get the ceiling painted, at least, this weekend!
Love You, Di ♥

It was good to visit and hear your cheerful and upbeat report of activity around your home. I know the feeling of enjoying seeing your father and husband working together. Few things greater!!!

Your skirt is beautiful. I wear mostly skirts and am usually more comfortable in them than slacks or jeans (thought I wear those sometimes, too). I AM hapy to be a woman. I can't remember a time I've wished to be a man - and somehow skirts just feel more feminine to me.

Praying that you'll find pleasure and minimal frustrations in your projects. We live in an old home, too. There is always something to do!

I like the quote at the end of your post. Will go back and read it 'cause I already have forgotten - something about busy hands...
