Loving My Life as Wife, Mother and Grandmother

I'm back!! Did you miss me?

Sam and I went to the library today..I felt like I needed to get out of this house..desperately! We actually did a little school work. We've been studying ants. We did some notebooking and then Sam played and I went looking for books to sooth myself :) I actually found some too! I picked out several home decorating books..4 I think. We've been doing some painting on the outside of the house. The foundation was a very ugly faded red. And the shutters were just faded out to an unrecognizable color. I decided on gray for the foundation and shutters and black doors. I think Mark thinks I've cracked up on picking black for the doors. But I love it! I will try to post some pictures of that tomorrow..The house is just white but needs painting too...So now we're discussing that. That will be a long time off, but I'm thinking a cream color would be pretty..
I found a book at the library that I just LOVE! It's all about aprons. It has the most beautiful pictures of vintage aprons..and shows how to make some of them too! If you have the opportunity to check this out at your library, you would definately enjoy it..
See what I mean about the pictures!! They are gorgeous!!
Last winter we had a terrible ice storm here. My bored self made a feeble attempt at making an apron from scratch..It has straps that go around your neck with the little red hearts that my sewing machine makes where the straps are attached. It also has 2 large pockets at the bottom. I put a raggy heart with big stitches on it too...I love old vintage looking fabric..
Here is what the heart stitches and fabric look like up close...

And this is the raggy stitched heart..
It's not anything wonderful...but it kept me from going stir crazy..and it turned out kind of cute I think ;)
One of the decorating books that I got at the library had this picture of a cute kitchen that made me think of Eileen! Eileen can you guess why this would make me think of you? Sorry for the glare..I tried a couple times and it still looked like this...But, I could definately work in this kitchen..I love the little pink shade on the lamp and the little pink hints here and there..I love the polk-a-dot dishes too! Marcy...these are for you!! Mickey absolutely loves the chew bones that you sent..he doesn't like sharing them with Teddy either..If Teddy grabs one, Mickey takes it from him the minute he lets go of it...then he goes and hides it. He keeps one close to him at all times though. I have to take it from him when he goes out to the bathroom...This is him napping...with his bone..
Here he is chewing away with delight! Notice how he holds on to it too..
This one is him chewing it on the side...while laying down... He really does love it..if he could talk he would definately thank you!
Poor Teddy trying to sleep...Mickey is on cat patrol...He hates cats...sorry all of you cat lover's...
But Mickey thinks they are the enemy...He spends his day looking out the window and when he spots one of them...he growls and goes crazy!
Well...here's a couple of last photos for you....What do you think of this? I kind of like it? I think it's definately colorful...and I think I could work in it...what do you think?
Here are the last 2 pictures for now...Mark told me he saw a house like this in the town near where we live. I kind of like it...But I'm not ready to do something that drastic...I definately think you'd have to have the right roof and all the right little extras to pull this off...But I do think it's kind of pretty...Any thoughts?
I think everyone would definately remember visiting if you lived here!
"The happiest moments my heart knows are those in which it is pouring forth its affections to a few esteemed characters." ~Thomas Jefferson~
~We are angels with only one wing...we can fly only embracing each other~
Thanks for all the kind words and prayers...it means the world to me to know that you care!!
My Mom reminded me today that the phrase that I always use on my children also applies to me...That God has a reason and knows exactly what he's doing and why things happen the way they do...Sometimes I guess, I just have to be reminded of what I actually say...I guess we tend to forget when it actually applies to us personally...Thanks for being there!!
With Love, Jerelene
P.S. I will try to get something together tomorrow for pen-paling....If everyone that wants to do it could leave me a comment...I'll put everyone's names down and then maybe everyone can just pick someone for this month...I feel like I'm probably not thinking straight so bear with me. Just comment me and I'll name you tomorrow and then everyone can comment tomorrow as to who they pick for this month...Does that sound ok? Talk to everyone tomorrow!! :)

Jerelene- Your apron is DARLING, Sweets! You did a great job! And that book is so fun! Love the library...

AS far as the pen pals, why not partner people in the order that they leave a comment? For example, the next person that comments will be my pen pal, then the next two people will be partners and so on? That would be easy on you... Lori

That sounds ok to me...if everyone will comment...then I'll have to send addresses to whomever needs them :)
Thanks!!! Jerelene

Jerelene, SWEET POST! I love everything about it! I love reading about you and Sam at the library, I love the books you decided on, and I love that you are 'dressing' your home! Both big and little projects really do boost our spirits a bit I think.
Your apron is precious! I adore it! It is so cute! I just recently bought myself an apron, I don't use them that often (as I'm hardly ever dressed up when cooking or working in the kitchen), but I just love them and I like looking at them!
And I love that kitchen with the pink touches, and also the one with the red, I could easily live with either one of those kitchens too!

Mickey looks so cute enjoying his treats from Marcy! Thanks for posting all his pictures.
And your lace curtains are so, so pretty!

I like the pictures of the house you posted too, very Victorian looking, I love the detail work on it! I actually like the color but would have opted for more of a contrast on all the trim.

And I like all your ideas for your home, black and gray sound great to me! I like a black door, I was thinking about doing our front door black but we get full sun and I was afraid of it fading.

Okay, last but not least, I LOVE YOUR MOM!! She's one smart lady, Jerelene! Very wise words!

And a beautiful quote! And such a wonderful sentiment that really speaks to my heart, we are angels with only one wing...we can fly only embracing each other.
'Love you, Jerelene.
Your friend,
Eileen

Hi Jerelene, just popped over to say hello, I love your apron....I use to wear them all the time at one time and so did my mother and grandmother. There was something fresh and clean about them.....I have no idea what you mean about pen pals but I hope it all works out.
You and Eileen and your pink kitchens, I love pink, its my favorite color but don't have any in my kitchen unless you want to count the pattern on some of my china.
Now that house would be a challenge and so much fun to paint and fix up....another project you and Eileen could share.
I love your warm and friendly blog Jerelene......will be back soon, have a great day...:-) Hugs

At this rate Jerelene, it looks as if YOU are going to be EVERYONE"S pen pal, so you might want to go back to writing names on a piece of paper and having Sam pick out two at a time.

Love all your books and decorating ideas.

You are right, no one would forget that house you found, but it does look like there would be some major repairs for it and maybe inside too.

Your apron is adorable.

So cute to see adorable little Mickey with his paw on the chewy rawhide. Thank you for the cute pictures. He really makes it last. Tinka chews them totally up in about ten minutes!

Glad you are posting again...and if you and Sam need any ants, we have tons, but unfortunately they are fire ants!

blessings and warm hugs,

marcy

p.s. Meant to tell you that you can eliminate camera glare if you take the picture at angle. Just stand to the side of whatever you want to take a picture of and surprisingly the picture doesn't look too bad either. I was afraid it would look like it was 'at an angle', but it sure helped eliminate glare shines for me.

Also can't believe Mickey FELL asleep ON the rawhide!!

Whoa...does this mean I'm my own pen pal now?

Marcy....what better company to have than yourself....you have someone that you know very well to talk with...you don't have to disagree with yourself....or you could agree....your choice.

Hi Jerelene!! I missed you....and I love your blog...looks terrrrrific.
Tell Sam hello for me, please.
Give Mickey and Teddy an extra treat for being soooo cute in the photos.
Love,
Jackie

Well I started to comment but something happened! Oh well here I go again. I'm sorry I didn't get to you sooner Jerelene, my husband is off this whole week and we have lots planned. But I will check in on everyone here and there!
However you want to do the pen pal club it's fine with me! I am excited about it.
I loved your cute photos of mickey who reminds me of Ruby as Ruby won't let any of our cat's near me. Until I go upstairs then she doesn't have a choice!
I also liked the aprons. I have a very old one hanging in my kitchen and still have some of my grandmothers as well.
I truely loved that kitchen photo, it reminded me a little of mine with the colors. I will post photo's of it someday.
I also thought that that house was really neat and I would love living in it!
See you soon Jerelene,love Di

Good afternoon Jerelene, I thought I would pop over and see how you are. You have some wonderful library books. I like decorating books of any sort too. Your apron is just lovely ♥ The colors are beautiful. I love all of the pictures of your little poochies ♥ Tell Sam Charli and I said hello. I hope you have a wonderful day. I'm off to clean.
