Loving My Life as Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Friday, June 12, 2009

Hello! It has been a busy week here at my house. We've had lots of things going on..Dog classes, working in the garden, taking Sam to crafting classes at the library. We've also had lots of storms. Tornado watches and lots of rain. Even though I don't like the storms, I am thankful for the rain. It has been helping our garden a lot! We are now starting to get some veggies from our garden. We are so thankful for the bountiful blessings!! I thought I would share a picture of our garden with you. We've planted tomatoes, sweet potatoes, zuchinni, yellow squash, butternut squash, eggplant, bell peppers, green beans, sugar pea pods, corn, cabbage, spinach, green onions, watermelon and a couple of prize-winner pumpkins (for Sam.) I'm hoping to do some canning before long. We all love zuchinni here, but from what I've read they don't recommend canning it unless you pickle it, as in relish or such. I think I may have to freeze it. We put out 16 zuchinni plants so I'm definately going to have enough to do something with. Having a garden is really therapeutic. There is nothing like going out and seeing new things coming on and then picking it!! Here's a pic of one side of the garden!!

I also have a picture of the hydrangeas starting to bloom all down the north side of my house. The picture isn't very clear..but they are so pretty. Some are pale blue, some are pink and some are purple. Some are even dark blue. When they are bloomed out a little better I'll try to post another picture.
I'll end this with a silly picture of Sam. He was wearing a silly pair of glasses that belonged to some friends of ours. We all took turns putting them on, but we thought Sam looked pretty hilarious!!

Do you can or freeze veggies??

Wow, you've been busy! Good for you!
Your garden looks great, and your property is so big! That's wonderful!
Your hydrangea bushes look beautiful, I love that flower. In my neighborhood they are really coveted and we've even had neighbors that have had them stolen right from their front and back yards during the night! People come and dig them up and sneak off with them. They sell for $12 - $15 per bloom in the florist shops.

You sound really happy and it's good to hear from you! Thanks for posting the pictures and I especially liked the one of Sam!!

I love your garden Jerelene. It must keep you very busy! And that photo of Sam is hilarious!

I love the hydrangeas, can you believe they steal them in Eileen's neighborhood? They should start a neighborhood hydrangea watch. What do you think?
