A Lazy Monday...

I'm still feeling a little under the weather..so we had a very lazy day around here. Sam played a little and of course the dogs played...Mark picked some green beans from the garden. We had green beans and buttered yellow squash for supper last night. The green beans were REALLY good! I like to cook the yellow squash down, sort of like you would potatoes..then mash them with the potato masher. Then I add butter, some garlic powder and salt and pepper. They are really good like that. Another thing that my family likes is to slice zuchinni, then boil until tender, then drain and layer with your favorite lasagna sauces and cheese. You could even add green peppers, onions or mushrooms. It's a really yummy way to use up your zuchinni.
Sam will be showing Mickey at the 4-H fair on friday. We have to be there at 8:30 in the morning. The leaders told us to expect to be there until probably around 2:00. It is going to be a really LONG day...I'm worried about how Sam will hold up after that many hrs. Actually, I'm worried about how I'll handle Mickey that long. That's a long time in a room full of other dogs with a puppy!!
We did start Sam on his new medicine. So far, we've heard a few complaints of stomach ache and being tired. I actually think that today his tics might have been a little better! I hope and pray that it helps...for all the risks you take with taking it; it would be so nice to see a little improvement for him :)
I'll leave this post with some pictures of our day today ...after some playing there was also some napping....
With Love, Jerelene

Your green beans and squash sounded like 'my' kind of meal...yumm.
I do hope the meds will work for Sam. Hugs to you.

I love green beans, and I make my squash exactly the same way! Sometimes I add cinnamon to it too, it feels like Thanksgiving! In fact, my family likes both their potatoes and squash 'whipped' with a hand-mixer and not just mashed, so they are really smooth and creamy. I actually like mine mashed and with some lumps, but I don't mind them the other way so I do that.
It must be great to hand-pick your dinner from your own garden!

Your day sounds really nice, I love those do-nothing lazy days, there's something so special about just being together.

'Loved all the pictures!

And I'm praying for Sam that he gets some relief without the side effects.

Thanks again for your beautiful card, and please thank Sam too and send him my best wishes.
Love you,
Eileen

Do you do anything special with your green beans? All I do is boil ours, really boil them as Michael thinks they should be super soft (he grew up with only canned green beans)!

Your pictures were so sweet, showing how puppies and people can cuddle up and nap!

Is Mickey a show dog? Wish Sam could take a mirror and really let MIckey entertain everyone!!

I am keeping Sam and his meds in prayer, Jerelene.

blessings and hugs,

marcy

Hi Jerelene, I hope you are feeling a little better today. Let us know if Mickey wins an award, he should! Bring plenty of dog treats and kid treats. I hope the side effects of the new medication is only temporary. Good Luck Jerelene!

A friend gave us some Swiss Chard which I fixed like cooked spinach & tried first with butter (spray) and salt and then with vinegar. We liked it both ways! She also gave us zucchini. I'm going to try it like you suggested - layering like lasagna. We don't grill out a lot, but when we do, we enjoy slicing yellow squash and grilling it with spray butter & seasoning salt. It's good to get some new ideas for vegetable serving. Thanks!
